Even 45 years after You Really Got Me first came out Ray Davies is still the man, and evreything he has done since You Really Got Me in 1965, to this very day from his music we all know and love to the obscure stuff only his die hard fans ( like me ) would know has always been way ahead of anyone you can name. Ray's name should be mentioned in the same breath as any of the greatest song writers of all time. There will never be the likes of another Ray Davies so appreciate this man and his talent now. He really is not like everybody else. God save him, the kinks and all the fans who stood by and have supported them and him throughout the years. - Frank Lima, The Montvale, New Jersey Hillbilly Boy aka Dan the Fan in KinKdom.

First of all, I will say that I agree with you about healthcare needing to be reformed. However, socialized medicine is a failure in every country that has it. My friend in Canada has over 60% of his gross income taken out in taxes, and he has to wait weeks to be seen by a doctor. Amazingly, even with the high tax rate, Canada's system is unsustainable financially. All of the countries that do have socialized medicine have two things in common. Quality of care is horrible, and the care is rationed based on who is most qualified to get it. While it's not what you would call a "death panel", it is what it is. A 70 year old with cancer isn't going to be treated as quickly as a 40 year old with cancer. No matter who is running it, it will always come down to costs and availability.

Also, it should be taken into account that our government is already trillions in debt. When you look at the other failed government experiments....such as social security, it's hard for most people to put any trust with the clowns in washington.

How do we fix it? First, we "fix" the things that started this whole mess. We deregulate insurance laws that prevent insurance companies to compete across state lines. More competition will lower the price of insurance. Next, we add in tort reform to stop the ambulance chasing lawyers from getting multi million dollar settlements in frivilous lawsuits. Because of the crazy amount of lawsuits, it's driven malpractice insurance sky high and has forced hospitals to charge outrageous fees and order so many unneccesary tests.

The real truth is, the government is what has caused much of this problem in the first place. Has nothing to do with Nazi Germany.

Congratulations on picking the best car in the world to drive. Sure the Porsche would have been gobs quicker and the valet parking attendants would have fought just to park it, but the Miata is miles ahead in the fun per dollar ratio and nobody will try and steal it.

Be sure and check for a local Miata Club for a wealth of knowledge and hopefully lots of fun: http://www.miata.net/clubs/nam.html

For a virtual community of Miata folks try the Miata.net Forum: http://forum.miata.net/vb/

I lost my mom a little over two years ago..I had to go through her things without my sister. She did not want any part of helping me and was never there for my mom when she needed her anyway. I was always the one to help out, comfort and spend time with my mom. My sister, however, knew how to sue the estate because she didn't receive what she thought was her fair share...she believed that it was her birth right! anyway, I know the feeling of sifting through memories of years. The ache of wishing it were all back. I miss my mom terribly. I have an endless hole in my heart that just sits there empty and yearning for my moms touch, her words, her kiss, her presence. I don't think that will ever go away. I think about her every single day and hope she's watching her grandchildren with pride. They, too, miss her. I have trouble sleeping as well on a good night. My thoughts always seem to drift towards my happy memories with my mom. I guess when they sun finally does stay for a while I will feel a bit better. Don't you wish we could just have one more conversation with our moms?....have a good day!

David Letterman gave an apology to Sarah Palin today. It was quite interesting. I will para-quote his comments: Basically he apologized for our lack of understanding of his joke. He said ” it was a bad joke, if you have to explain it, it was a bad joke”. So it’s our comedic unsophistication that is to blame for this controversy not the words uttered by Mr. Letterman. It was very big of Mr. Letterman to swallow his pride, bow his head and blame us, I mean apologize. I’m glad David Letterman blamed me for not understanding the joke, after all I wouldn’t want him to get in any trouble for something that’s my fault. It also helps me to understand how dumb I am and that I shouldn’t question important people like Mr. Letterman and others of his ilk. I’m not one to hold a grudge so I’ll just forgive myself for my lack comedic vision and maybe all this will just go away. I’m sorry Mr. Letterman, it was not my intent to misinterpret your joke and for that I am truly sorry. Signed: RichardKP of PoliticalVentilation.com

And Now For the Part of the Joke We Missed
The real joke was about Alex Rodriguez. The joke was that A Rod knocked up Palin’s 14 year old daughter, and that’s the funny part. The joke assumes that we think A Rod is sexually vigorous enough to take on a 14 year old girl. But we all know of his steroid abuse and steroids have undoubtedly turned his testicles into little raisins thereby making the statutory rape of Gov. Palin’s daughter impossible. That’s what the joke’s about, and it’s darn funny too. But it is sad also, I feel sorry for A Rod and his testicle situation, it must be hard on his ego. If you think I presume too much about A Rod, then I offer this proof. His complete and utter silence on this matter. This is all the proof one needs to surmise that Alex Rodriguez has No Balls. I hope all my readers get my joke because I don’t want to have to apologize for they’re lack of understanding. Thanks David for showing me the way.

Hi. I found your blog in trying to search high and low for someone making the connection between the accusation that David Letterman is a sexist who should be called out, and the fact that NY State Senator Hiram Monserrate has charges of domestic violence against him, Tom Golisano dismissed that as a "personal issue", and no one has called out Monserrate or Golisano.

I think it is ironic that you have the two stories together, but you didn't see it the way I do...

Here is my blog post...

David Letterman and Hiram Monserrate: The Republicans have got to be kidding

What?

Republican debutante Sarah Palin wants David Letterman to apologize for making a sexual joke ALLEGEDLY about her 14-year-old daughter? (Even though, we all know it was about her 18-year-old daughter, who clearly has experienced sex, and whom Sarah Palin paraded around the campaign trail as an unmarried, pregnant teen, exposing her to the attention of late night comedy hosts.)

How about the Republicans disavowing NY State Senator Hiram Monserrate who ALLEGEDLY slashed his girlfriend’s face with a broken shot glass? (as reported here and elsewhere.)

This is the typical Republican hypocrisy. And, the two stories may even have a direct correlation. It would be just like Karl Rove to advise the Republican Party that since voters should be looking at an ELECTED OFFICIAL who should be condemned because it appears he assaulted a woman, the party might instead try to get the press to go report on a LATENIGHT COMEDIAN, who told an inappropriate joke about a woman.

If it is wrong to joke about hurting women, Sarah Palin, then it is definitely wrong to slash women in the face. And, one probably should not cohort with public officials who are accused of doing so. So, please tell your Republican colleagues in the NY State Senate to go back to their old plan to demand Hiram Monserrate’s removal, and, to get rid of their new plan, to try to use Democrat Hiram Monserrate as a pawn in a Republican coup to wrongly take the majority of a statewide legislative body.

And, Mr. Letterman: Since Sarah Palin refuses to go on your show, why don’t you offer her spot to someone else who can talk about respect for women? You should invite NY State Senate Hiram Monserrate onto your show, to discuss his feelings about jokes against women. That ought to be a lot of laughs.

And, if you can’t get Hiram Monserrate directly, perhaps you could try for some of his current Republican allies? Or, perhaps billionaire Tom Golisano, who characterized the charges against Monserrate as “a personal issue”? Or, maybe you could get some of the Democratic Party leaders and Working Families Party leaders who are willing to forgive Monserrate–if only they can have his vote back.
